Levels of Care in Addiction Treatment

Drug and Alcohol Treatment

Levels of care refer to the different drug and alcohol treatment programs at Destination Hope that are offered to addicted individuals. At our alcohol and drug rehab Florida program we understand that each individual is unique; therefore the level of care must be tailored to their particular circumstance. All too often, addicted individuals end up in the wrong program, and consequently their care is not as effective as it should be. The following levels of care can be used as a rough guide to the programs available. The final determination of which addiction treatment is best for any particular individual must be made by a trained addiction professional after a thorough examination of the patient and their circumstances.

Medical Detox:
Medical Detox is meant to remove the dangerous substances accumulated in the body from drug and alcohol use. Detox is usually the first step in the drug and alcohol treatment process and represents the stabilization of the body through withdrawal from drugs. Indeed, withdrawal can be one of the hardest parts of the addiction treatment and recovery process, as the body will have become dependent on the drugs to function. However, we work with several licensed and experienced medical detox centers that work to minimize the harmful effects of withdrawal and make your detox experience safe and comfortable. Withdrawal affects both the body and mind, making detoxification a vitally important stage in recovery.

Drug & Alcohol Rehab:
Drug and alcohol rehab at Destination Hope is a residential-style addiction treatment program that involves 24-hour-a-day supervision in a treatment-center-run living facility. Patients must be sober by the time they enter residential care and will not be violent or dangerous to themselves or others. Daily activities will include group and individual therapy as well as behavioral therapy, relationship therapy, AA/NA meetings, and family therapy to include the patient’s loved ones. Destination Hope offers 30, 60, and 90 day programs for men suffering from drug or alcohol addiction. Lengths of stay are based upon an individual patient’s needs and responsiveness to drug and alcohol treatment. Addiction treatment is also available to clients that have a co-occurring mental health diagnosis. The goal of our drug and alcohol rehab program is to prepare clients for long-term sobriety in a safe and supportive environment.

Intensive Outpatient:
Intensive Outpatient, or IOP, is the second level of care at Destination Hope. It is a less restrictive drug and alcohol treatment program than detox and residential treatment that is designed for clients that have full-time work or school obligations and a safe home environment that supports their recovery. Outpatient clients receive individual treatment plans from a psychiatrist that include group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy. The program is held during convenient hours three days a week for 3-4 hours for a minimum of six weeks. Most clients attend the evening IOP program, but we also offer a day program. The Intensive Outpatient Program is ideal for clients that have completed our drug and alcohol rehab program or for new clients that are looking for addiction recovery support while continuing to function in their communities.
